Although considered as an indoor tree, the Ficus can be perfectly positioned outside (in a location sheltered from the wind, of course) since early May,
There are dozens of species of Ficus, but the following article mainly describes two varieties generally used in the art of bonsai, the Ficus retusa and Ficus benjamina. The care of both bonsai are easy, for they are the most widespread. The Ficus bonsai is one of the easiest to grow. It is much less demanding than Carmona, Murraya and Serissa. And we can work more or less Ficus in all styles.
The ficus is usually sold as "indoor tree", but it is really the truth without testing, without relationship with reality botany. The ficus can survive inside, yes, but its development will be diminished. The branches grow more slowly, the internodes are longer, and foremost, the bonsai will be more sensitive to errors in care, diseases and parasites.
